Toshiba's breakthrough, called BICS (for Bit Cost Scalabe) involves building stacks of starage gates that are 48 layers deep - other approaches allow only 36. The new technology allows for a three-fold improvement in staroage capacity at no increase in price of size, which should allow for three terabyte thunb drives and 400 GB microSD cards, essentially eliminating the storage gap for mobil devices.
After many years in which the “reality” of virtual reality (VR) has been questioned by both technologists and the public, 2016 promises to be the tipping point, as VR technologies reach a critical mass of functionality, reliability, ease of use, affordability and availability. Movie studios are partnering with VR vendors to bring content to market. News organizations are similarly working with VR companies to bring immersive experiences of news directly into the home, including live events.

Microsoft Corp said on Tuesday that a hacking group previously linked to the Russian government and U.S. political hacks was behind recent cyber attacks that exploited a newly discovered Windows security flaw.
The software maker said in an advisory on its website there had been a small number of attacks using “spear phishing” emails from a hacking group known Strontium, which is more widely known as “Fancy Bear,” or APT 28. Microsoft did not identify any victims.
Every day it seems another news breaks about cyber-criminals hacking in and stealing information. Private companies, government agencies, movie studios, political organizations, hospitals…no one is immune.
These types of stories are an example of why the cybersecurity market has become incredibly lucrative. It’s expected to be worth $120 billion in 2017, according to the Cybersecurity Market Report by Cybersecurity Ventures. That same report estimates that a stunning $1 trillion will be spent globally on cybersecurity from 2017 to 2021.
Yet, the Ponemon Institute found that the likelihood of a material data breach involving 10,000 lost or stolen records in the next 24 months is 26 percent. The same study finds the average cost incurred for each lost or stolen record at $158.

Your high-value digital assets and systems are increasingly the target of adversaries launching ever-more malicious ransomware campaigns. Without healthy security practices, you risk significant disruption, damage, and costs.
